Starts off with a brief recap of last epi where Kagome is caught spying on Inu & Kikyou by Inu. They stare at each other & when he says her name she runs off. Then it's the next day & she's g8iving some medicine stuff to Mi4roku & Sango. They tell her to make up with Inu. She thinks back about what she heard between Inu & Kikyou. She claims to have forgotten about it as she went home. Everyone feels badly for her as she's so sad. Inu finds Miroku & Sango at the well. They all talk. & Inu walks off alone. Meanwhile Kagome is still brooding about Inu. She’s upset & thinks Inu doesn't like her. He's also brooding & he comes to the conclusion to not see Kagome so he doesn't hurt her any more. Next day & Kagome gets up & thinks about Inu. She decides to return the jewel fragments to him. Kagome's family is worried about her. Poor Kagome barely eats & gets up & leaves. Poor Mom had a tough time keeping everyone quiet so as not to upset Kagome. She goes off to school & meets up with her friends. They talk on the way to school. All her friends want to know about her jealou7s boyfriend. So she tells them he dumped her & she assures them she's fine & over him. Meanwhile poor Inu is getting berated by all his friends. He tells them he's not going to see her again. They can't believe it & then Miroku says that it's for the best as it would be cruel to Kagome for her to be there. Anyway poor Inu is still being pestered about being with Kikyou by Kaede. Meanwhile Kagome is trying to return the shards. She keeps hearing him say he wants to be with Kikyou. She wishes that Kikyou would disappear & she feels bad about it so she decides to go back to her room. She stands by the tree & she realizes that that's the tree where they first met. She relives that moment as well as seeing all the times they were together. She's still brooding about Inu & how much she wants to see him As she realizes she's in love with him. Mom interrupts her thoughts & she runs to her crying. They talk. Kagome learns that her father asked her mother to get married under the sacred tree. Now Kagome feels better. Meanwhile poor Inu is still getting pestered by Shippo & his friends. They tell him to go to Kagome & make a nice clean break of things...turns out maybe Inu really doesn't want to give up Kagome. He walks to the well as he decides to say goodbye forever. Then he sees Kagome there. They stand apart & talk. He tells her she makes him happy. & She tells him she can't compete with Kikyou cuz she's alive. She tells him that that while she's not Kikyou, she shares the desire to be with Inu just like her. She tells him she does want to be with him. They stand there not looking at each other as he wonders what to say. She asks him if she can stay. He's like you'll stay with me? I she knows that she was meant to meet him so he can live. She takes his hand & they walk away. It ends with him holding her hand too as they walk away until they stop & look at each other.
